1968: The OCTANORM exhibition construction system was developed by Hans Staeger in Germany
The requirements:
• finding a solution for angles larger than 90°
• variable unit system due to progressively adjustable dimensions
• locking of joining pieces at every height and width
• using diverse panel and wall thicknesses
• simple assembly and dismantling
The company name and logo had its origin in the system idea and the profile
• OCTA = [lat.] for octagonal
• NORM = Duden: rule, technical standard, proper, reasonable;
1st press conference:
On December 6, 1968, the OCTANORM program was presented to public in Germany and received
good response in Germany and abroad

1969: Establishment of OCTANORM-Vertriebs-GmbH for construction components in Germany

1970: The first common annual meeting of "Service Partners" was held
1st participation in the trade fair EuroShop of Düsseldorf

1972: The new curved beams and quarter-circle profiles were presented to the experts of the industry

Space Display Systems Pty Ltd, which later becomes Octanorm Australia is founded in Melbourne by Don Klaric

1973: The double-floor program was launched on the market
2nd participation in the trade fair EuroShop

1975: The institution OCTANORM Service Partners was founded and the profile S700 was put on the market

1976: For the first time exhibition-construction systems could be leased. Their quality made it possible.
3rd participation in the EuroShop trade fair

1977: OCTANORM Espana was established
Introduction of the newline CORPUS program

1978: 4th participation in the EuroShop trade fair
OCTANORM Nordic was established

1979: 10-year anniversary of OCTANORM-Vertriebs-GmbH

1981: Presentation of the laminar ceiling at the EuroShop trade fair
The OCTANORM built-in tension lock was presented
OCTANORM Canada was established

1982: The OCTANORM Double Form line was put on the market
Foundation of the OSPI network

1983: The OCTAMOBIL panel support was presented

1984: 6th participation in the EuroShop trade fair
Establishment of OCTANORM Philippines in Manila

1985: OCTANORM at Marketing Services
Presentation of the mini newline program
2nd OSPI meeting in South Africa

1986: OSPI invites to Brazil
Development start of the software OCTACAD

1987: 7th participation in the EuroShop trade fair

1988: Introduction of the STRUKTUR program
4th OSPI meeting in Canada
• participation of 163 companies from 32 countries
• together, they already achieve a sales volume of DM 811 million

1989: OCV celebrated its 20th anniversary:
• licensees in 17 countries
• partners: 289 companies worldwide
• in total 1.911 employees

Establishment of OCTANORM USA in Atlanta

1990: 5th OSPI meeting in Stockholm
8th participation in the EuroShop trade fair

1991: Introduction of the wall and shelving system

1992: 6th OSPI meeting in Manila
Presentation of the OCTACAD software program

1993: The supporting lighting system D300, the TRANSPARENTA
showcases, the OCTANORM raised floor and the tension locks became ready
to go into production and were presented at the EuroShop trade fair

1994: Development of the CUBO connector
7th OSPI meeting in Barcelona

1996: 10th year of participation in the EuroShop trade fair

Octanorm Australia moves to new premises at Maidstone in Melbourne

1997: Presentation of the lattice-beam program MAXIMA
10th participation in the EuroShop trade fair
8th OSPI meeting in Melbourne, Australia

1998: Expansion of the MAXIMA light product range

1999: 30th anniversary of OCV
11th participation in the EuroShop trade fair

2000: 9th OSPI meeting in England

2001: Octanorm Australia moves 'across the road' to larger purpose built premises in Maidstone

2002: 12th participation in the EuroShop trade fair 

2007: HVG acquires Octanorm Australia
